I met with Dr Gubbins for the first time 5 years ago and really appreciated his straightforward, honest demeanor. He made some recommendations and it has helped me be so much more healthy. Yesterday I had a great visit and thought I would post my experience. Dr Gubbins and staff (Maritza in scheduling was awesome) are extremely professional and they clearly care about their patients. Miami has some great physicians and Dr Gubbins is one of those excellent Drs.

I have been a patient for many years. My family as well. The office staff is alway corteous and caring . They are very professional and are easy to talk to and handle any issue. Dr. Gubbins is one of the best Gastro's (well to me he's the best)

I had a virus (treated by Gubbins - in the hospital) that makes using antibiotics a problem. I sent a message to him, indicating I had an infection that required antibiotics, and asking which may be less harmful. I followed up with a phone call and the assistant assured me she would get back to me (while seeming annoyed I had followed up and not just waited for an email). I told her I had an infection and was waiting to treat it for a response.
I received no response that day. I sent another message and got a call the next day by the assistant who seemed very, very annoyed and told me I cannot take ANY antibiotics.
I responded by asking what I was supposed to do, just let the infection spread? And she then said to take whatever anabiotic the doctor I had seen recommended. I pressed, indicating that she had just told me I couldn’t have any antibiotics and she said to do whatever the doctor told me. I pushed and she had to reread the doctors note 4 times (though I’m still not sure she understood it) to tell me that there are no antibiotics that are better or worse for someone who has had CDiff, but I know that to be false.
I asked to speak with the doctor and she acted like I’d asked for the moon, and told me he was in procedures. I told her that I was supposed to get a response yesterday but didn’t, and she said she told me he was with patients. With a pending infection, and a simple question, this was Unacceptable.
A couple years ago I had called the office with a similar question and they told me what I should take and what I shouldn’t - I just didn’t remember.
A simple Google search gives you a vague idea - I just wanted to be sure.
The fact that they couldn’t be bothered to deal with it when this issue landed me in the hospital last time, is unconscionable.

La oficina de Dr Gubbins es muy eficiente en todos los aspectos. Miami Traffic sucks!! And I was 16 minutes late and they couldn’t see me, front desk said! Sucked! I find this very unprofessional. On Their part because this is not a Salon appointment or nail appointment. This is a medical needed appointment. I took the morning off from work for this and to not be seen was the worst. But as a medical office they should work on their policy and maybe have One time courtesy. Not happy with the STAFF how it was handled. It could’ve been handled on another way. And I was never notified by the staff who called yesterday to confirm my appointment. They could’ve emphasized please be early because there’s only a 15 minute grace period. And that information was never said.
