Every now and then, you stumble upon a product so unexpectedly divine, it leaves an indelible impression long after the last bite. Such was the case with the Butter Fruit and Nut Plank we discovered at Metro—a revelation in flavor and texture, and an absolute triumph of culinary craftsmanship.

From the very first glance, it beckoned irresistibly from the bakery section—golden and glossy, generously studded with plump dried fruits and perfectly toasted nuts, embedded like jewels in a rich, buttery base. It wasn’t just a treat; it was a showstopper. Naturally, we couldn’t resist.

The moment it touched our tongues, we were transported. The texture? Impeccable. A delicate balance between melt-in-your-mouth buttery softness and the satisfying crunch of whole almonds, pecans, and walnuts. Sweet cranberries and chewy raisins burst with flavor, perfectly complementing the deep caramel notes of the plank itself. The richness was indulgent, but never cloying—each bite carefully composed, like a well-orchestrated symphony of taste and texture.

I devoured it with such reverence it bordered on ceremony—and my father, who is often reserved with praise, couldn’t help but utter a heartfelt “Wow.” We shared a knowing look, one that spoke of mutual bliss, as if we’d stumbled upon a long-lost treasure.

Great store really. Clean and organized. Friendly staff. I went for a to good to go surprise bakery bag. So here's the thing, it says go to bakery to pick up. It's at costumer service you need to go. The young man explained they can not change it on that site. But it's a good way to get customers to walk through the store and buy!

They smoke near propane tanks here. I see butts at the bike rack all the time. There's a sign that says no smoking. I spoke to asst.manager Mike regarding this, who did not seem concerned, and dismissive.

American products labeled as Canadian.

American products imported by a Canadian company is NOT a Canadian product.

I get that there's a lot of product on your shelves, and it's a lot of work to go through it all, but the specific brand I saw mislabeled yesterday is a Very big american brand. If you're not going to do it right, don't bother. You're misleading customers who trust you. But I can only assume it's intentional as many grocery stores are doing the exact same thing.

Probably my favourite grocery store in town. I don’t live close by but on nice days (and when I have energy) I will walk here.
It’s pretty pricey for average shopping (still cheaper than Zhers) but the in store sales are worth going. I usually grab the miscellaneous meat/cheese ends in the deli, check out the discount baked goods rack and then the prepared meats section for best deals.
Recently I have been getting toogoodtogo from here. The deli ones that are $13 are probably better suited for a family because you get a LOT of sandwiches, enough to fill a family of four, so if you’re a single person I find it’s too much food to consume before it’s best before date.
I got the baked goods and the fruit/salad ones yesterday and was super pleased. Bother were $6 each and I had some really delicious dessert squares and some mini pita and chickpea tortillas. LOVED the fruit one; was worried I would get pineapple that I wouldn’t eat but I received a bag of Brussel sprouts, a bag of slaw that’s cauliflower/broccoli, some rutabaga (never had but will try) and a huge thing of spinach. I can say it’s absolutely worth the value.
The customer service lady that works whenever I get the bags is super nice and efficient. Knows what to do and does it in a timely manner, so I never have to wait around for help. It’s been very easy to walk in and get them and walk out.

It’s always good to visit this store from being clean, tidy, and stocked. Most of the time you get what you’re looking for. Great variety of products and special offers
